Amman, Sept. 2 (Petra) — The Eastern Military Zone early Wednesday
thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics using
guided balloons within its area of responsibility.
Border Guard units detected the balloons, intercepted them, and shot
them down inside Jordanian territory, seizing the narcotics they were
carrying. The operation was conducted in coordination with the
military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.
The seized materials were handed over to the relevant authorities for
the necessary legal action.
The Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army reaffirmed its determination to
firmly confront all attempts at smuggling and infiltration across the
borders. It also stressed that it continues to monitor the various
methods and means used in such operations and take the necessary
operational measures to foil them.
