Aqaba, Aug. 2 (Petra) — The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority
(ASEZA) has launched a dedicated cycling route in Wadi Rum as part of
the Rum–Rashidiya Road Development Project.

The route extends for approximately 19 kilometers along the
Rum–Rashidiya Road and includes a separate lane for bicycles.
According to ASEZA, the project is intended to improve road safety,
encourage cycling, and support sustainable transport in the area.

The authority said the project forms part of its plans to develop
infrastructure in Wadi Rum through development projects that are in
line with international best practices and support the conservation
of the environment and natural resources.

ASEZA said the cycling route is an addition to Wadi Rum’s tourism
offering, providing visitors with an opportunity to explore the
area’s natural landscape in a safe and sustainable manner while
supporting tourism and economic activity in the region.

The project is part of a broader package of initiatives being
implemented by the authority in Wadi Rum, including the development
of hiking trails aimed at diversifying tourism activities,
encouraging longer visitor stays, and reinforcing Wadi Rum’s position
as a global destination for eco-tourism and adventure tourism.
