Pipeline Consortium Halts Oil Loading After Tanker Attacks Off Russian Coast
Moscow, 19 Jul
2026 (ONA) — The Caspian Pipeline Consortium suspended oil loading today
after two tankers were attacked off the Russian Black Sea coast.
The consortium
said the tankers Asia and NISSOS IOS were struck during loading operations,
adding that no casualties or injuries were reported among its employees or
contractors. It also denied any oil spill, but did not identify those
responsible for the attack.
Last week saw
a significant escalation in strikes by both Russia and Ukraine on vessels in
the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
The consortium
operates a 1,510‑kilometre pipeline linking Kazakhstan’s Caspian oilfields to
the Russian port of Novorossiysk. Oil loaded there is shipped by tankers to
global markets, with the consortium handling about 80 percent of Kazakhstan’s
oil exports.
