Amman, Sept. 15 (Petra) — Some 1,000 job opportunities will be
offered to jobseekers at an industrial employment fair scheduled for
next Thursday at Al Hussein Youth City in Amman.

Organised by the East Amman Industrial Investors Association (EAIIA)
under the U.S.-sponsored Youth Development Project, the fair will
bring together around 50 industrial companies from various sectors,
giving jobseekers the chance to meet employers and take part in
on-the-spot interviews.

The event will be held at the Grand Amman Hall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
under the patronage of Minister of Youth Raed Al-Adwan.

EAIIA Chairman Iyad Abu Heltem said the 10th edition of the fair is
aimed at helping industrial companies in the area meet their demand
for Jordanian workers while creating direct employment opportunities
for jobseekers.

He called on young people seeking employment to attend the fair and
take advantage of the opportunity to interview directly with
participating companies.

Abu Heltem said the industrial companies operating in East Amman have
the capacity to provide suitable jobs for young Jordanians,
highlighting the sector’s role in national efforts to tackle
unemployment and expand employment opportunities in line with the
priorities of the Economic Modernisation Vision.

The association has previously organised nine employment fairs in
cooperation with public and private-sector institutions. The events
have provided direct platforms for employers and jobseekers to
connect, helping open new career prospects for Jordanian youth and
encouraging their integration into the industrial and productive
sectors.

Abu Heltem stressed that workers are the real capital of the
industrial sector, noting that empowering and training them and
providing decent employment opportunities are key to raising
productivity, improving living standards and supporting sustainable
economic growth.

The U.S.-sponsored Youth Development Project is designed to support
and empower Jordanian youth between the ages of 18 and 29 and improve
their access to the labour market. The project focuses on developing
participants’ professional and workplace skills and connecting them
with genuine employment opportunities that match the needs of
employers.

Under the project, the association is implementing a series of
activities aimed at boosting employment in the industrial sector.
These include outreach and awareness campaigns, career counselling
and guidance, job-readiness training, as well as networking and
job-matching initiatives with industrial companies.

The programme also provides follow-up support for young people after
they secure employment, helping contribute to job retention, sustain
employment opportunities and strengthen youth participation in the
labour market.

The East Amman Industrial Zone has a history dating back more than
six decades. The first factory was established there in 1961, and the
area has since grown into a major industrial hub covering Marka,
Uhud, Tareq, Abu Alanda, the Ring Road, Al-Nasr and Basman.

The zone currently hosts around 1,800 establishments, most of which
are small and medium-sized industrial enterprises. Together, they
provide approximately 30,000 jobs, with Jordanian workers making up
the majority of the workforce.
