Amman, Sept. 7 (Petra) — The Eastern Military Region early Monday
foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics using
guided balloons within its area of responsibility.
Border Guard units detected the balloons, intercepted them and
brought them down inside Jordanian territory, seizing the narcotics
they were carrying in coordination with the military security
agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.
The seized materials were referred to the relevant authorities for
the necessary legal action.
The Jordanian Armed Forces reaffirmed their continued efforts to
counter smuggling and infiltration attempts along the borders,
monitor the various methods and means used in such activities, and
take the necessary operational measures to prevent and address them.
