Amman, Sept. 8 (Petra) — The Eastern Military Zone foiled two
attempts to smuggle large quantities of narcotics using guided
balloons along the Kingdom’s eastern border early Tuesday.
Border Guard units detected and tracked the balloons before bringing
them down inside Jordanian territory and seizing the narcotics they
were carrying.
The operation was carried out in coordination with military security
agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department. The seized drugs were
handed over to the competent authorities for the necessary legal
action.
The Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) reaffirmed its commitment
to firmly confronting cross-border smuggling and infiltration
attempts, while closely monitoring the methods used by smugglers and
taking the necessary operational measures to thwart them.
