Amman, July 23 (Petra) — Jordan’s Ministry of Education and the
British Council on Thursday signed a second amended annex to their
agreement on implementing the Education for Success program, which
trains English-language teachers in Jordanian public schools.

Minister of Education Azmi Mahafzah and Alex Lambert, the Council’s
Country Director, Jordan and Levant Cluster Lead signed the
agrrement.

The signing ceremony was attended by British Ambassador to Amman
Philip Hall, the ministry’s director of legal affairs department,
Mostafa Rousan, and Nisreen Saleh, the British Council’s head of
English programmes.

Talking at the ceremony, Mahafzah said the ministry would work
“closely” with the British Council to improve in-service teacher
skills, expressing satisfaction with the joint collaboration between
Jordanian and British expertise to enhance learning outcomes.

Under the agreement, which strengthens joint cooperation, the scope
of the Education for Success program will be expanded to train
English-language teachers and supervisors in public schools,
targeting 4,000 English teachers annually through the end of March
2029, for a total of 4,000 teachers and educational supervisors
across all education directorates.

Training activities will be blended and will begin according to an
implementation plan approved by both sides.

The two sides also agreed the British Council would complete training
for all educational supervisors, who had not finished their training
classes under the first amended annex, in coordination with the
ministry.
