Egypt’s Annual Inflation Rises 12.8 Percent in September

Cairo, October 10 (QNA) – Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics announced that the country’s annual headline inflation rate rose to 12.8 percent in September 2026, from 12.7 percent in August.

In a statement issued today, the agency said the general consumer price index reached 294.2 points in September 2026, up 1.5 percent from August 2026.

Year on year, compared with September 2025, prices rose by 7.9 percent for food and beverages; 29.6 percent for housing, water, electricity, gas, and fuel; 15.1 percent for furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance; 21.3 percent for transport; 20 percent for education; and 12.8 percent for restaurants and hotels.
