Washington, June 30 (QNA) – Four round of 32 matches of the FIFA 2026 World Cup will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, July 1, in the race to qualify for the round of 16. These matches are: France v Sweden, England v DR Congo, Mexico v Ecuador, Belgium v Senegal.
In the France v Sweden match, the French team are aiming to win its third World Cup title at this year’s edition after a perfect group stage of three straight wins. Meanwhile, Sweden reached the round of 32 after finishing third in Group F with four points. 
In their head-to-heads, France beat Sweden 12 times compared to Sweden’s 6, with five draws shared. 
The England v DR Congo match will take place in Atlanta Stadium in the United States. 
England topped Group L with seven points from two wins and a draw, scoring six goals and conceding two. They are currently unbeaten in 14 matches under coach Thomas Tuchel. 
DR Congo finished third in Group K and qualified for the round of 32 with four points from one win and a draw, having lost its opening match against Colombia 0-1. 
Mexico, one of the three host countries of this year’s FIFA World Cup, will face Ecuador in the round of 32 after achieving an unbeaten group stage performance without a single goal conceded, making them one of the most prominent teams in the tournament so far. 
Meanwhile, Ecuador’s path to the knockout stages was not easy, as they suffered a lot in the group stage before securing qualification as one of the best third-placed teams with four points from one win and a draw. 
Mexico and Ecuador faced each other in 28 previous matches, with Mexico dominating their head-to-heads with 17 wins compared to Ecuador’s four, while seven matches ended in a draw. 
In the Belgium v Senegal match at Seattle Stadium in the United States, Belgium topped Group G with seven points from two draws and a win. Senegal finished third in Group I with three points. (QNA)
