Geneva, July 08 (QNA) – Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi and Acting Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Pedro Manuel Moreno on Wednesday discussed the latest regional and international developments and their implications for the economic and trade fields, particularly with regard to freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, including the many challenges facing supply chains.
The meeting addressed cooperation relations among the Cooperation Council and UNCTAD, as well as ways to support and develop them across all trade and economic fields, serving common interests.
The Secretary General also reviewed joint GCC customs efforts, which contribute to bolstering economic integration among the Cooperation Council states, pointing out that they have a number of future economic initiatives among them.
For his part, the Acting Secretary General of UNCTAD commended the approach and efforts undertaken by the GCC states to secure and strengthen supply chains during the current crisis in the region. (QNA)
