Hamilton Wins Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix
London, June 14 (QNA) – Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari won the Spanish Grand Prix, the seventh round of the Formula 1 World Championship, at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Montmelo on Sunday.
The victory was Hamilton’s first with Ferrari since joining the Italian team last year and his first since winning the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps. It was also his seventh win in Barcelona, breaking a tie with the German great Michael Schumacher, and the 106th victory of his Formula 1 career.
Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, completed the 66-lap race in 1:32:28.105, finishing 19.561 seconds ahead of fellow Briton George Russell of Mercedes, who started from pole position and placed second. Another Briton, McLaren’s Lando Norris, finished third, 23.719 seconds behind the winner.
Despite retiring with a mechanical failure five laps from the finish, Italy’s Andrea Kimi Antonelli retained the lead in the Formula 1 drivers’ championship with 156 points. Hamilton moved into second place with 115 points, while Russell is third with 106. (QNA)
