Health Minister Hails ICRC Efforts in Supporting Medical Services in Sudan

Port Sudan, February 28, 2026 – Federal Minister of Health Professor Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim held a meeting on Saturday with a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), headed by the Deputy Head of Office in Sudan, Dr. Faria Radi. The meeting reviewed the ICRC’s activities in Sudan, which include broad coverage in primary healthcare services, hospital support, and participation in the dignified management and burial of bodies in cooperation with the Sudanese Red Crescent.The delegation also outlined its efforts in the maintenance and rehabilitation of hospitals, as well as its contribution to combating epidemics.The Federal Minister of Health expressed his deep appreciation for the ICRC’s efforts, underscoring the need to strengthen support in emergency response, the provision of life-saving medicines, and assistance to medical teams. He further called for enhanced training of forensic medicine personnel, the rehabilitation and equipping of morgues, and agreed on an additional project for rehabilitation and prosthetic services.BH/BH
