Sayyid Azzan bin Qais Elected as Chairman of Oman Olympic Committee
Muscat,
22 Apr (ONA) —— The General Assembly of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) endorsed
HH Sayyid Azzan bin Qais Al Said as Chairman of the OOC Board of Directors for
the electoral term (2024–2028) during its annual meeting held today in Muscat
Governorate.
The
meeting was attended by OOC board members and 17 General Assembly members
representing sports federations, sports personalities, athletes, and a
representative from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, along with
candidates for the 2024–2028 board membership.
The
General Assembly also endorsed Dr. Abdullah Khamis Ambusaidi as a Dupty
Chairman, in addition to approving several members as per the statutory
categories: Taha Sulaiman Al Kushari and Abdullah Mohammed Bamakhalf as representatives
of Olympic sports federations, Yousuf Awad Beit Salim representing non-Olympic
federations, Khalifa Hamad Al Jabri as the athletes’ representative (elected by
the Oman Athletes’ Committee), and Sayyidah Sanaa Hamad Al Busaidi as the
women’s sports representative.
Furthermore,
the General Assembly elected six members out of nine candidates for the OOC
Board of Directors from Olympic sports federations: Moosa Khamis Al Balushi
(Oman Handball Association Chairman), Dr. Marwan Juma Al Juma (Oman Hockey
Association Chairman), Said Mohammed Al Hajri (Oman Athletics Association
Chairman), Qais Saud Al Zakwani (Representative of Oman Aquatics Association),
Eng. Khalfan Saleh Al Na’abi (Oman Basketball Association Chairman), and Eng.
Ibrahim Abdullah Al Muqbali (Oman Volleyball Association Chairman).
Additionally,
the Assembly selected Sheikh Badr Ali Al Rowas and Jihad Abdullah Al Sheikh to
fill the two seats allocated for sports personalities in the General Assembly
for the 2024–2028 term.
The
meeting’s agenda also included approving the minutes of the extraordinary
General Assembly session held on 16 February 2025, reviewing last year’s annual
report highlighting key administrative and technical achievements, discussing
the proposed 2025 activity plan, examining the financial closing statement for
the past fiscal year, the auditor’s report, and the current year’s budget.
