Amman, June 30 (Petra) — The Board of Commissioners of the
Independent Election Commission (IEC) began disbursing financial
contributions to political parties for the current fiscal year,
following compliance reviews under the provisions of the Political
Parties Financial Contribution Bylaw.

Ahmed Abu Zeid, the Registrar of Political Parties at the IEC,
announced on Tuesday that six political parties have completed all
regulatory requirements and eligibility criteria for financial
support, with no outstanding audit findings on their closing
financial statements.

Abu Zeid added that an additional 11 political parties are currently
in the process of rectifying issues found in their financial records.
These parties were formally notified of the audit observations by the
Registry of Political Parties and granted a 30-day grace period from
the date of notification to correct their statements, in accordance
with Article 9/C of the Political Parties Financial Contribution
Bylaw, before their funds can be disbursed.

The Registrar explained that pursuant to Article 22/A of the
Political Parties Law, the IEC Board of Commissioners is mandated to
select the competent authority responsible for auditing the financial
statements of political parties. Accordingly, the Board appointed the
Audit Bureau to handle the financial reviews, a measure intended to
strengthen transparency, institutional governance, and the sound
management of public funds.
