Amman, July 28 (Petra) – An Indonesian government delegation
concluded an eight-day visit to Jordan on Monday aimed at exchanging
expertise on the economic empowerment and inclusion of persons with
disabilities.

The July 20–27 visit took place under a trilateral cooperation
initiative between Jordan, Indonesia, and Germany, funded by the
German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to foster
South-South cooperation.

Coordinated by Jordan’s Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with
Disabilities (HCD), the itinerary showcased national policies,
disability data management, institutional coordination, and
public-private partnerships.

The delegation, led by Maliki Maliki, Deputy Minister for Community
Empowerment, Population, and Employment at Indonesia’s Ministry of
National Development Planning (Bappenas), included representatives
from government ministries, disability organizations, social
institutions, experts, and the private sector.

The visit opened with the delegation attending the Arab Regional
Conference tracking the outcomes of the 3rd Global Disability Summit.
They also joined a joint capacity-building program on economic
inclusion alongside Jordanian and German counterparts.

During visits to HCD and key public institutions, delegates were
briefed on the Kingdom’s rights-based approach, including national
governance frameworks, accessibility programs, independent living
initiatives, and the national identification card system for persons
with disabilities.

The delegation conducted several field visits to observe accessible
infrastructure and services, including the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)
system, the 114 emergency hotline for the deaf, the Al-Muqabalain
Government Services Center, and the Madaba Institute For Mosaic Art
And Restoration. They visited the ministries of Digital Economy and
Entrepreneurship, Labor, Social Development, and Planning and
International Cooperation to explore digital transformation and
employment strategies.

The visit wrapped up with a joint workshop hosted by HCD and GIZ,
where participants reviewed progress since the initial learning
exchanges in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and discussed future strategies
to promote disability rights and sustainable economic participation.

The Higher Council said the visit further reinforces Jordan’s growing
role as a regional hub for advancing disability rights and inclusive
policies while showcasing the Kingdom’s experience in promoting
independent living and the full participation of persons with
disabilities.
