Iraqi President: We reject use of our territory to attack neighbouring countries

Baghdad, September 12 (Petra) – Iraqi President Nizar Amidi said on
Saturday that Iraq rejects the use of its territory or airspace as a
launchpad for attacks against neighbouring countries, condemning
attacks that targeted Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, Amidi said, “We strongly condemn the attacks that
targeted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” affirming that Iraq does not
accept the use of its territory or airspace to launch attacks against
neighbouring countries.

He said that protecting Iraq’s sovereignty and maintaining relations
with its neighbours are the responsibility of the state and its
constitutional institutions.

Amidi added that Iraq remains committed to its relations with Saudi
Arabia and all neighbouring countries, as well as to promoting
security and stability and protecting the interests of the peoples of
the region.

He called for avoiding actions that could undermine these relations
or threaten Iraq’s security and stability.
