Zarqa, Aug. 2 (Petra) — Italian author Enrico Aragona explores
Jordan’s landscapes, communities and cultural identity in his new
book “Listening to Silence,” which follows a journey along the King’s
Highway from Amman to Aqaba, passing through Madaba, Karak, Tafilah,
Ma’an, Petra and Wadi Rum.

The book, recently published by ” Geografie Interiori,” reflects
Aragona’s experience in Jordan after he first arrived on a diplomatic
mission and later chose to settle in the country following his
retirement, recording his observations and experiences across the
Kingdom.

Aragona previously served as a military and diplomatic attaché at the
Italian Embassy in Amman. In his book, he presents a personal account
of traveling along the King’s Highway, focusing on Jordan’s people,
traditions and daily life while offering a perspective beyond common
tourist impressions.

“The book is not a tourist guide, but the view of someone who lives
in Jordan and documents his daily observations. This country taught
me that silence is not an absence, but a language understood by those
who know how to listen,” Aragona said.

He added that Jordan is a country that requires time and experience
to understand, saying that the journey continues through the memories
and impressions left by the desert landscape.

The book also includes suggested travel programs ranging from three
to 14 days, along with practical advice for visitors interested in
exploring Jordan.
