Amman, July 19 (Petra) — The Board of Directors of the Jordan
Football Association (JFA), chaired by HRH Prince Ali bin Al Hussein,
has appointed Moroccan coach Badou Zaki as the head coach of the
national team, the association announced on Sunday.

Zaki will lead the national team, known as the Nashama, in upcoming
tournaments, most notably the Asian Cup finals scheduled to take
place in Saudi Arabia in early 2027.

The Moroccan coach has signed a one-year contract following the
board’s acceptance of the resignation of former head coach Jamal
Sellami and his technical staff. The JFA expressed its appreciation
to Sellami for his efforts during his tenure, adding that the new
coach and his full technical staff will be formally presented
following Zaki’s recommendations.

Zaki boasts an illustrious career as both a player and a manager. As
a goalkeeper, he led the Moroccan national team to a historic
achievement at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, reaching the round of
16, and was named African Footballer of the Year in 1986. He also
enjoyed a distinguished club career with Spain’s Real Mallorca.

As a manager, Zaki guided Morocco to the final of the 2004 Africa Cup
of Nations. He has also managed several clubs and national teams,
including Wydad AC, FUS Rabat, Kawkab Marrakech, and Ittihad Tanger,
as well as the national teams of Sudan and Niger.
