Amman, Sept. 15 (Petra) — The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) is
participating in the Eager Lion 2026 exercise, which began on Tuesday
in the U.S. state of Colorado in cooperation with the U.S. Central
Command (CENTCOM), as part of military cooperation and coordination
between the two countries.

Jordan’s military attaché to the United States underscored the
importance of the JAF’s participation in the exercise, saying it
would contribute to strengthening military cooperation with the U.S.
armed forces, developing operational capabilities, enhancing
readiness, and exchanging expertise through joint training and
planning. This would bolster the forces’ ability to conduct joint
operations efficiently and effectively, he said.

The deputy director of plans and policy at CENTCOM said holding the
exercise in a complex operational environment reflected the level of
cooperation and coordination among the participating forces. He
highlighted the importance of the Jordanian-U.S. military partnership
in supporting regional security and stability, developing joint
operational capabilities, and addressing a range of challenges and
threats.

The two-week exercise includes a series of joint drills and
activities covering counterterrorism, air defense, maritime security,
cybersecurity, and disaster and crisis response. The exercise aims to
enhance readiness and operational efficiency, strengthen coordination
and integration, and develop the planning and response capabilities
of participating forces.

Eager Lion 2026 is the 12th edition of the exercise and builds on
joint training programs between the Jordan Armed Forces and CENTCOM,
contributing to the exchange of expertise and enhancing the ability
to carry out joint missions and operations.
