Jordan Condemns Houthi Spokesperson’s False Statements Against Saudi Arabia

Amman, July 21 (Petra) — Jordan’s Foreign and Expatriates Affairs
Ministry condemned statements by the Houthi military spokesperson,
which falsely accuse Saudi Arabia of launching a seige against Yemen
and threatening freedom of navigation.

In a statement Tuesday, the ministry spokesperson Fuad Majali said
Jordan “strongly” rejects and denounces the statements, affirming the
Kingdom’s “full” solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all
measures taken by Riyadh to protect its sovereignty, security and the
safety of its citizens and residents.

Majali also urged the international community to fulfill its
responsibilities in securing implementation of relevant U.N. Security
Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216 on Yemen and
Resolution 2722 on navigation rights in the Red Sea.

Additionally, he affirmed freedom of navigation in international
waterways is a right guaranteed under international law and the 1982
U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea.
