Karak, Sept. 16 (Petra) — Director General of the Jordan Cooperative
Corporation (JCC) Abdul Fattah Shalabi on Wednesday visited several
cooperatives in Karak Governorate to review their developmental
projects and assess key operational challenges.

Beginning his tour at the Karak Cooperative Directorate, Al-Shalabi
met with staff members and commended their role in monitoring local
cooperatives and raising community awareness about the cooperative
model.

In a meeting with local cooperative heads alongside Director of Karak
Cooperatives Mohammad Adaileh, Shalabi discussed strategies to
advance the sector. He briefed participants on major policy updates
following the passage of the 2025 Cooperatives Law, which established
the Cooperative Development Fund to provide financing and loans, as
well as the Cooperative Training Institute to build capacity among
cooperative members and staff.

The inspection tour included visits to the Military Retirees
Cooperative, the Karak Livestock Breeding and Fattening Cooperative
which operates a factory producing traditional dairy items such as
“jameed” and clarified butter the Binaa Mutual Benefit Cooperative,
and the Smart Land Cooperative, which focuses on agricultural
production and capacity development.

During the visit, Shalabi presented an honorary shield to the vice
president of the Smart Land Cooperative, Rami Kasasbeh, acknowledging
his contributions to the sector and his election this week in Panama
to the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) Global Youth
Executive Committee, where he serves as the sole representative for
the Asia-Pacific region. Adaileh also presented Kasasbeh with a
commemorative plaque on behalf of the directorate.

Shalabi reaffirmed JCC’s commitment to providing institutional
support to cooperatives to expand their developmental role, enhance
community engagement, and drive sustainable local development across
Karak Governorate.
