Amman, June 30 (Petra) – Jordan has been elected to the Executive
Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Organisation (ACAO) during
elections held on the sidelines of the organisation’s 29th General
Assembly in Rabat, Morocco.

According to a Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) statement
issued Tuesday, Jordan secured 17 of the 18 votes cast, reflecting
strong support from member states.

CARC Chair Deifallah said the election demonstrates the confidence of
Arab countries in Jordan’s role and its contributions to addressing
challenges facing the civil aviation sector at regional and
international levels.

The Executive Council comprises 11 member states elected by the
General Assembly every two years. It is responsible for formulating
Arab civil aviation policies and overseeing the implementation of the
General Assembly’s resolutions.

The Arab Civil Aviation Organisation, a specialised agency of the
League of Arab States, works to strengthen cooperation and
coordination among member states in the development of civil
aviation.

It was established in 1996 following the entry into force of its
founding agreement, which has been ratified by 22 Arab countries.

The commission said Jordan’s election reflects the confidence of Arab
states in the Kingdom’s expertise in civil aviation and its continued
role in promoting joint Arab cooperation in the sector.
