Amman, July 15 (Petra) – The Jordanian Field Hospital South Gaza/10
performed two surgeries that helped save the injured limbs of two
patients in their 40s, who suffered from nonunion fractures and
advanced medical complications.

The procedures were carried out as part of the hospital’s continued
medical efforts to alleviate the suffering of people in the Gaza
Strip.

The first case was a patient with a comminuted nonunion fracture in
the lower femur, accompanied by acute active osteomyelitis. The
second involved a nonunion fracture in the tibia, requiring precise
surgical intervention to preserve the affected limbs and improve the
chances of restoring function.

The treatment included surgical debridement of infected areas, open
reduction of the fractures, and internal fixation using metal plates
and screws.

In the first case, bone cement was implanted in the femur to fill the
bone defect caused by fragmentation and help control infection. In
the second, a bone graft was implanted to promote fracture healing
and achieve bone stability.

The surgeries were successful, improving the patients’ chances of
regaining mobility and quality of life after prolonged pain and
movement impairment. The operations also reflect the level of
specialized medical care provided by Jordanian medical teams in the
Gaza Strip.
