Amman, July 2 (Petra) — Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply
Yarub Qudah and Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals Mohammad
Nouri met in Baghdad on Thursday to discuss ways to enhance
industrial and commercial cooperation and expand joint coordination
to serve mutual interests.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed several issues of common
interest, foremost among which was the joint Jordanian-Iraqi Economic
City project. They emphasized the importance of removing obstacles
and providing the necessary facilities to proceed with the project,
given its strategic significance in supporting the industrial sector
and creating promising investment opportunities.
The ministers also discussed mechanisms to increase the volume of
bilateral trade and open new channels for economic cooperation to
stimulate trade and support the private sector, aiming to achieve
economic integration between Amman and Baghdad.
Qudah highlighted the depth of the historic relations between the two
countries, stressing the Kingdom’s keenness to develop economic and
investment cooperation to achieve shared benefits and enhance
economic integration across various fields.
He added that Jordan views Iraq as a major economic partner in the
region and attaches special importance to strengthening cooperation
between the public and private sectors, expanding partnership areas,
and exchanging expertise to stimulate trade and support the
industrial sectors of both nations.
For his part, the Iraqi minister affirmed his country’s commitment to
deepening the partnership with Jordan in various economic and
industrial fields. He noted that the Iraqi government places great
importance on establishing the joint economic city, advancing vital
projects between the two sides, and resolving any obstacles they
face.
