Amman, Sept 6 (Petra) — Minister of Education and Human Resources
Development Azmi Mahafzah met on Sunday with Lebanese Minister of
Education and Higher Education Rima Karami and Lebanese Ambassador to
Jordan Brigitte Tawk to discuss bilateral cooperation in education
and human resources.

The meeting, attended by Ministry Secretaries-General Nawaf
Al-Ajarmeh and Sahar Al-Shakhaterah, focused on expanding
institutional expertise and technical exchanges between both nations.

Mahafzah outlined Jordan’s recent structural reform combining general
education, higher education, and human resources development into a
unified ministry, noting that the integration optimizes planning
efficiency to meet future market demands. He highlighted national
initiatives in teacher training and leadership development, citing
the Queen Rania Teacher Academy, along with specialized programs for
school administrators.

Mahafzah also noted the establishment of the National Council for
Future Technology, detailing its role in incorporating artificial
intelligence (AI) and digital systems across educational frameworks
and human resources development.

For her part, Karami commended Jordan’s educational models and
administrative reforms. She reviewed the current status of Lebanon’s
higher education sector, preparations for the upcoming academic year,
and the operational structure of Lebanese public and private
universities.

Karami proposed organizing a joint forum featuring curriculum
directors, university presidents, and educational experts from both
countries to develop collaborative solutions for shared challenges,
resource optimization, and crisis management.

Discussions covered pre-service and in-service teacher training in
partnership with Jordanian universities, teacher professional
licensing, leadership development, quality assurance, and certificate
equivalency procedures.

The two sides further examined joint efforts to address learning
loss, advance digital learning strategies, and expand reciprocal
university scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both ministers agreed to reactivate
joint technical committees via videoconferencing to establish
implementation roadmaps for the proposed agreements and programs.
