Jordan, UAE foreign ministers call for regional de-escalation, condemn Iranian attacks

Amman, July 19 (Petra) — Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and the
United Arab Emirates’ counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al
Nahyan, discussed on Sunday efforts to end the dangerous escalation
in the region and restore lasting security and stability.

During a phone call, the two ministers condemned Iranian attacks on
Jordan and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states,
expressing mutual solidarity in confronting them.

Safadi and Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire
and a return to negotiations as the only viable path to resolve the
crisis and address the underlying causes of regional tension.

The ministers also stressed the vital importance of ensuring freedom
of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with
international law.
