Amman, Oct. 8 (Petra) – A parliamentary delegation continued its
participation on Thursday in the 153rd General Assembly of the
Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Tanzania.
Delegates Arwa Hajaya, Omar Khaldi, Huda Naffaa, and Samer Azaida
took part in main assembly sessions on good governance, community
empowerment, inclusivity, and public trust.
Speaking at the Forum of Women Parliamentarians, Naffaa noted that
the expanding political role of Jordanian women, attributing their
achievements to national political modernization drives supported by
the Hashemite leadership.
Addressing a separate forum session on disability rights, Naffaa
detailed Jordan’s legislative advancements protecting persons with
disabilities.
She said empowering women with disabilities is “central” to justice
and inclusion, urging global parliaments to translate international
commitments into binding domestic laws covering education,
employment, and political participation.
Meanwhile, Azaida addressed a panel on digital violence in politics,
warning that online spaces are increasingly pushed toward hostile
environments that discourage women and youth from public service.
He also presented a strategy combining legislative frameworks and
technical solutions to combat digital abuse and maintain equal
political opportunities.
