Amman, July 7 (Petra) – Jordan emerged as one of the standout stories
of the 2026 FIFA World Cup through competitive performances,
acclaimed officiating, and strong fan support.

The national team earned praise for its displays against Austria,
Algeria, and Argentina, with several players producing standout
performances that drew global attention and showcased the Kingdom’s
growing presence on the world stage.

Jordanian referees Adham Makhadmeh, Ahmad Ruwaileh and Mohammad
Bakkar have also been among the tournament’s top-performing
officiating crews. The trio oversaw four matches, earning strong
evaluations for their performances.

Jordanian fans in the US also received recognition for their
sportsmanship, showcasing their enthusiastic yet orderly support.
Cultural events organized around the tournament showcased Jordan’s
heritage, traditions, and tourist attractions, introducing the
country to a broader international audience.

Sports analyst Yahya Qtaishat, in remarks to “Petra,” said Jordan’s
World Cup premiere established the country on the global football
map, while the success of its referees boosted Jordan’s reputation in
international football.

Meanwhile, former Jordanian football player Qusai Abu Alieh said the
tournament’s impact extends “beyond the pitch, raising the profile of
Jordanian football, increasing the visibility of its players, and
promoting the Kingdom as a tourism and cultural destination.”

International media pointed to Jordan’s players and their
performances throughout the tournament, a boost that could improve
their prospects for moves to clubs abroad.
