Irbid, Jan. 9 (Petra) – Irbid’s labor directorate received a total of 830 complaints last year via Himaya (Protection) platform, Media Spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor, Mohammad Zyoud, announced.
In remarks to “Petra” Thursday, Zyoud said the ministry’s teams in the northern governorate carried out 5,465 inspection visits during the past year and issued 624 violations.
Zyoud noted the “highest” number of labor complaints on the platform related to non-payment of wages, then service termination, while the remaining grievances exposed forcible submission of unpaid leave, or resignation and failure to pay minimum wage or various allowances.
Zyoud stressed that the ministry receives all types of labor complaints on the platform and are processed accordingly.
On the follow up mechanism, he said the labor inspector contacts the worker and the employer to verify the complaint details.
If the employer abstains from responding to the ministry’s procedures, a violation is issued against the establishment to collect the worker’s rights once the case is proven to be valid, he pointed out.
