Long-Range Rockets by Militão, Mbappé Blast
Real Madrid Past Espanyol
Madrid, 21 Sep
(ONA) — Kylian Mbappé continued his scintillating start for Real Madrid,
scoring a superb long-range goal to help secure a 2-0 victory over a previously
unbeaten Espanyol in the Spanish La Liga. The win was sealed by an equally
spectacular first-half strike from defender Éder Militão.
Militão broke
the deadlock in the 22nd minute, unleashing a powerful right-footed drive from
distance that soared into the top corner, leaving goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic
with no chance despite getting a hand to it.
After the
break, Mbappé doubled the lead just two minutes into the second half. Granted
space outside the area, the French star expertly picked his spot and hammered a
low, precise strike into the bottom corner that Dmitrovic could only watch fly
past.
The goal marks
Mbappé’s seventh in just six games this season, a tally that includes a
decisive brace in Madrid’s Champions League opener against Marseille on
Tuesday.
The result
propels Real Madrid five points clear at the top of the table, ahead of rivals
Barcelona and Espanyol. In a further boost for the leaders, England midfielder
Jude Bellingham made a welcome return from injury, coming on as a late
substitute for his first appearance since undergoing shoulder surgery in July.
