Amman, Sept. 17 (Petra)– Lower House Speaker Mazen Al-Qadi strongly
condemned the “heinous attempt” to target Mecca Al-Mukarramah with a
drone, stressing that undermining the security of Saudi Arabia or
exposing its territory and Islamic holy sites to any danger
constitutes a serious violation that cannot be tolerated.
Al-Qadi said that targeting Mecca, which holds a deeply rooted place
in the hearts of Muslims, does not constitute an attack on Saudi
Arabia alone, but also provokes the feelings of Muslims around the
world and threatens the sanctity of the holy sites.
He stressed that the security and stability of Saudi Arabia are an
essential part of regional security, adding that any attempts to
destabilize the Kingdom or endanger the lives of citizens and
residents require a clear international stance rejecting attacks on
civilians and holy sites and reaffirming the need to abide by
international law.
Al-Qadi also expressed full solidarity with Saudi Shura Council
Speaker Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh, the Shura Council and the
Saudi people, affirming Jordan’s support for the Kingdom in
confronting anything that threatens its security and territorial
integrity.
He wished Saudi Arabia continued security and stability.
