Dubai, Sept. 17 (Petra) — Minister of Government Communication and
Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani said the rapid transformation
of the media landscape goes beyond changes in tools and platforms,
requiring media institutions to rethink content production, audience
engagement, and their role in shaping public understanding.

Speaking at a session titled “Dialogue with Arab Media Ministers”
during the Arab Media Summit 2026 in Dubai, Momani said the massive
flow of information has made public trust a critical asset and a
central objective for media institutions.

He said the challenge facing Arab and international media is not only
to obtain accurate information quickly, but also to interpret it,
place it in context and explain its implications while maintaining a
meaningful presence in public debate.

The media’s role, he added, has expanded from reporting what happened
to explaining why it happened, what it means and what could follow.

Momani said Jordan is working to strengthen government communication
through continuous monitoring, faster access to information, improved
performance of media spokespeople and direct engagement with the
public.

He stressed that the value of government communication lies in
providing accurate information that enables the public to understand
developments with confidence.

On the Arab narrative, Momani said the media environment is
increasingly a contest over news, interpretations and perceptions,
requiring the Arab narrative to be presented through facts, firsthand
accounts and context while expanding the reach of Arabic content
across global languages and platforms.

He also called for stronger Arab cooperation in information exchange,
content verification, training and the development of young media
professionals.

On artificial intelligence (AI), Momani said AI has become part of
the media and government work environment, requiring institutions to
benefit from its capabilities while maintaining professional and
human responsibility. As misinformation and manipulation tech becomes
more sophisticated, he said, the importance of trusted sources is
growing.

Jordan views AI as an opportunity to enhance government performance
while maintaining the government institution’s role as the
authoritative source of official information.

Momani said the future of media will depend on institutions’ ability
to earn and maintain public trust, stressing that Arab media and
communications ministries should help institutions and professionals
adapt to technological change and contribute to shaping the sector’s
future.
