Amman, April 14 (Petra) – Minister of Public Works and Housing, Maher Abu Samen, called for conducting a periodic and comprehensive review of engineering curricula at Jordanian universities.

He said this effort aims to keep pace with rapid digital and technological advancements and better align educational outcomes with labor market needs.

During a meeting with engineering students from the University of Jordan on Tuesday, Abu Samen stated the ministry “prioritizes” supporting and developing students by securing opportunities to gain practical experience.

He noted this vision seeks to better hone the beneficiaries’ skills and build a competent generation of engineers to keep pace with global transformations.

The visit, organized by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), aimed to familiarize students with the work environment and bridge the theory-practice gap.

The visit also featured a presentation on the ministry’s establishment and goals, as well as a technical explanation of the project lifecycle.

During the event, a review was provided on Princess Iman Hospital expansion project as a “practical model” for managing challenges and ensuring successful implementation.

The students, in turn, expressed their appreciation for this experience, which highlighted the nature of engineering work and connected their studies to professional applications.
