Amman, April 16 (Petra) – Minister of Environment, Dr. Ayman Suleiman, Thursday launched “Our Flag Flies High, Our Country is Clean” initiative to celebrate Jordanian Flag Day.
Activities began in the capital, Amman, and will extend to various governorates across the Kingdom.
During the launching ceremony, held next to ministry’s headquarters, Suleiman said this step comes within the framework of strengthening national allegiance and social responsibility, and promote a culture of environmental preservation.
Suleiman noted celebration of the Jordanian flag is a “unifying” national occasion, while simultaneously promoting positive behaviors for maintaining cleanliness.
On its goals, he noted the initiative aims to distribute flags to citizens and environmentally-friendly bags for vehicles, aimed to spur citizens to maintain immaculate roads and public spaces and raise environmental awareness countrywide.
The initiative was implemented, in participation of Ministry of Environment staff, in cooperation with the Royal Department for Environmental Protection, and a number of official bodies, civil society organizations, and volunteers.
Flags and eco-friendly bags were distributed at various locations and along main roads nationwide.
Drawing a positive response from citizens, the public also called for continuing such national initiatives that reflect a spirit of allegiance and responsibility towards the environment.
