Amman, July 16 (Petra) — Minister of Transport and Labor Nidal
Qatamin chaired a meeting on Thursday with Minister of Industry,
Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah and Minister of Agriculture Saeb
Khreisat to discuss steps to expand Jordan’s fleet of refrigerated
trucks to keep pace with “growing” national exports and ensure the
smooth transport of goods to international markets.

The ministers called for ensuring an “adequate” number of Jordanian
refrigerated trucks to accommodate rising export volumes,
particularly agricultural products.

In this regard, the ministers said this move would support national
producers, strengthen competitiveness of Jordanian goods in regional
and international markets, and improve efficiency of transport and
logistics services for productive sectors.

The meeting brought together Transport Ministry Secretary-General
Fares Abu Dayyeh, Land Transport Regulatory Commission General
Manager Riyad Kharabsheh, and representatives of the Jordan Chamber
of Commerce, Jordan Chamber of Industry, Amman Chamber of Commerce,
the Jordan Exporters and Producers Association for Fruits and
Vegetables (JEPA), the Jordanian Farmers Union, and the Jordan Public
Truck Owners Association.

In presence were also Merchants Union of Vegetables and Fruits
Exporters, the Jordan Exporters Association, as well as officials
from the ministries of transport and industry, trade and supply and
the Land Transport Regulatory Commission.

During the meeting, participants agreed on the need to maintain
continued coordination between government institutions and the
private sector to develop “feasible and sustainable” solutions to
strengthen the country’s refrigerated transport fleet.

The attendees said supporting farmers, manufacturers and transport
operators is part of an “integrated” system that is key to increase
national exports, support the economy and reinforce the position of
Jordanian products in foreign markets.
