Ramallah, Jan 5 (Petra) — The year 2024 saw a record surge in attacks by Israeli occupation forces and settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Authority’s Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said Sunday.
Some 16,612 attacks and violations were recorded last year against Palestinians, lands, properties and holy sites across the West Bank, the commission, which monitors settlement activity across the occupied territory, said.
The occupation army carried out 13,641 violations and hardline Jewish settlers 2,971, mainly in Hebron, where 2,934 violations took place, followed by Nablus, 2,531, and Ramallah and Al-Bireh, 2,224, it said.
The Commission said settler violence was centered in Nablus, where 806 attacks were documented, Hebron, 657, and Ramallah and Al-Bireh, 532.
In the village of Qaryut, south of Nablus in the northern West Bank, extremist settlers today set up a new settlement outpost on confiscated Palestinian lands.
A group of settlers pitched up tents south of the village in an effort to launch a new settlement on Palestinian-owned land, said Yousef Al Hajj of Qaryut Village Council.
