Moscow, June 27 (QNA) – The Russian Ministry of Defense announced Saturday that its forces hit an energy facility in the Sumy region of northeastern Ukraine with a drone.

The ministry explained in a statement that the strike hit a power substation in the town of Konotop in the same region, resulting in power outages affecting several factories and facilities.

In response, Ukrainian authorities reported that a Russian drone targeted a vehicle belonging to a special police unit while it was assisting in evacuation of civilians in the Sumy region.

Meanwhile, the State Emergency Service in Zaporizhzhia announced that the tally of injuries caused by in Russian airstrikes that targeted the city last night has risen to nine, including two children.

It added that a residential building was damaged, and rescue teams managed to pull two people from the rubble.

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has witnessed a significant escalation in recent days, with both sides exchanging attacks on oil facilities and vital infrastructure in both countries. (QNA)
