Amman, Aug. 5 (Petra) – Residents of Jerash, Irbid and Zarqa will
soon have access to expanded public transport services as the Land
Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) begins trial operations of two
new inter-governorate bus routes on Sunday, as part of the second
phase of the public transport development project.

The new routes, connecting Jerash-Irbid and Irbid-Zarqa, aim to
provide citizens with safer, more reliable and efficient
transportation options, facilitate daily commutes, reduce travel
times and improve connectivity between governorates.

The LTRC said the launch of the new services reflects its commitment
to implementing the project according to the announced timeline and
supports the objectives of the Economic Modernization Vision, which
seeks to establish a modern and integrated public transport system.
The project is expected to become fully operational by the end of
August.

The Jerash-Irbid route will operate with 15 large buses at a fare of
JD1.25, while the Irbid-Zarqa route will be served by 42 medium-sized
buses at a fare of JD1.50. The routes will operate according to
approved technical and operational standards to ensure safe and
regular services for passengers.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the Commission said the buses are
equipped with advanced safety and comfort features, as well as
electronic tracking and payment systems that help monitor schedules,
maintain service frequency and enhance the overall passenger
experience.

The LTRC added that the expansion of the transport network will
continue in the coming days with the launch of additional routes. The
Amman-Ajloun route will begin trial operations on Aug. 16 using 22
minibuses at a fare of JD1.50.

The Zarqa-Mafraq and Jerash-Mafraq routes will begin operations on
Aug. 20. The Zarqa-Mafraq route will use 44 large buses at a fare of
JD1.55, while the Jerash-Mafraq route will operate with 11 minibuses
at a fare of 95 piasters.

The Commission said the phased rollout of the routes will enhance
transportation links among governorates, provide citizens with more
dependable commuting options and contribute to improving the quality
of public transport services nationwide.

The latest expansion follows the launch of the Amman-Tafilah and
Amman-Ma’an routes earlier this week, as the project advances toward
full implementation by the end of August.

The LTRC called on citizens to use designated terminals and follow
scheduled departure times, noting that its technical and supervisory
teams will continue monitoring trial operations and assessing
performance to ensure the effectiveness of the new services.
