Official Gazette publishes health minister’s sale ban of bagged chips in schools

Amman, Oct. 8 (Petra) — Health Minister Ibrahim Badour banned the
sale of bagged chips of all kinds in Jordan’s school canteens, in
addition to the previously announced list of items prohibited from
being traded or sold inside schools.

Published Thursday in the Official Gazette, the decision was issued
under Clause 10 of Article Third of the 2012 Health Requirements for
School Canteens and Permitted and Prohibited Foods, and its
amendments, which is based on Articles 3 and 4/f of Public Health Law
No. 47 of 2008 and its amendments.

The move aims to protect students’ safety and healthy eating habits
and to uphold health standards in schools. It takes effect from the
date of its publication in the Official Gazette
