Oil Prices Retreat as Gulf Supplies
Increase
Tokyo, 23 Sep 2026 (ONA) — Oil
prices fell today as Saudi Arabia began resuming crude supplies through a vital
pipeline reaching the Red Sea, amid growing hopes of a diplomatic resolution to
the war between the United States and Iran through talks under way at the
United Nations in New York.
Brent crude futures declined by
seven cents, or 0.07 percent, to $99.18 per barrel. US West Texas Intermediate
crude futures also fell by 35 cents, or 0.39 percent, to $90.17 per barrel.
Optimism over improved supplies and
efforts aimed at ending the nearly seven-month-old conflict drove Brent crude
at settlement yesterday, Tuesday, below $100 per barrel for the first time
since 8 September.
In the same context, Iraqi Oil
Minister Bassem Mohammed reported an increase in his country’s oil exports. He
said Iraq is currently exporting more than three million barrels per day, and
its exports through Türkiye are expected to be raised to more than 600,000
barrels per day.
