Participates in Meeting of Arab Finance Undersecretaries in Abu Dhabi
Abu
Dhabi, 22 Jan 2026 (ONA) — The Sultanate of Oman participated in the eleventh
meeting of the Undersecretaries of Arab Ministries of Finance, held in Abu
Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in the presence of representatives from the
International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the Organization for Economic
Cooperation and Development.
The
meeting discussed several topics related to the role of fiscal policies, the
prospects and opportunities for leveraging artificial intelligence in
developing public fiscal policies, and exploring opportunities for sustainable
financing to achieve sustainable infrastructure.
The
meeting also addressed the latest developments in implementing tax decisions in
Arab countries, and the efforts of Arab governments in stabilizing fiscal
positions and ensuring public debt sustainability.
Meanwhile,
the Ministry of Finance presented the Sultanate of Oman’s experience in
stabilizing fiscal positions and ensuring public debt sustainability. It
outlined the efforts undertaken to improve public debt management and the key
results achieved, including increased non-oil revenues, reduced public debt
levels, an improved credit rating, and the restoration of investment-grade
status.
This
meeting was held within the context of preparations for the seventeenth
ordinary session of the Council of Arab Finance Ministers.
