Amman, Sept. 23 (Petra) — Palestinian Ambassador to Jordan Atallah
Khairy praised His Majesty King Abdullah II’s address to the UN
General Assembly on Tuesday, describing it as a comprehensive speech
that reflected a deep understanding of international crises and
proposed approaches to resolving them.

In remarks to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Khairy highlighted the
King’s reaffirmation that the Palestinian cause remains a central
Arab, Islamic, and international priority and that the two-state
solution is the only option for ending the conflict.

He also underscored the King’s continued commitment to the Hashemite
Custodianship over Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and
his support for preserving the historical and legal status quo there.

Khairy praised the King’s support for UNRWA, saying it reaffirmed
that the rights of Palestinian refugees are not subject to compromise
and that the agency’s role must be preserved.

He further highlighted the King’s warnings about the humanitarian and
regional consequences of Israeli actions in the West Bank and Gaza,
including forced displacement, destruction of civilian
infrastructure, and attempts to alter the reality in the Gaza Strip.

Khairy also pointed to the King’s call for the international
community to uphold international law and address the
Palestinian-Israeli conflict rather than continue a policy of
containing it.
