Ramallah, September 27 (QNA) – The escalating incursions by extremist settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque, coupled with their performance of Talmudic rituals under the occupation police’s escort, presage grave danger, the Palestinian Presidency warned Sunday.

It stressed that these actions amount to a flagrant violation of the historic and legal status of the holy places.

The official spokesperson for the Palestinian Presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, said Israel’s continued perpetration of these abuses to impose a fait accompli on the ground and encumber Palestinian worshipers gravely inflames Muslims’ sentiments around the world.

Israel’s unabated moves to divide Al-Aqsa along temporal and spatial lines, along with the ongoing escalation in occupied Jerusalem, threaten to morph the political conflict into religious warfare, Abu Rudeineh cautioned.

He contended that these moves would imperil security and stability in the region, reiterating that Al-Aqsa Mosque, covering all 144 dunams, is exclusively devoted to Muslims and cannot be partitioned or jointly owned.

Abu Rudeineh held the occupation government fully responsible for the perilous implications of these provocative policies, calling on the international community, particularly the Security Council, to act immediately and take practical measures to protect the Palestinians and sacred places.

He argued that these actions should compel the occupation authorities to cease their violations and comport with the relevant international resolutions. (QNA)
