Doha, June 30 (QNA) – HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani has attended the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between Qatar and Turkiye to jointly develop Qatar’s third satellite.
The deal was signed on Tuesday in Doha between Es’hailSat – the Qatar Satellite Company and Turkiye’s national satellite operator, Turksat, marking a significant expansion of cooperation in the space and satellite communications sector.
As part of the partnership, the two companies will collaborate on the Es’hail-3/Turksat-Biruni satellite project, while a separate contract was signed with aerospace manufacturer Thales Alenia Space to design and build the satellite.
Under the agreement, Es’hailSat and Turksat will combine their satellite assets, ground infrastructure, distribution networks and customer relationships to expand satellite and communications services across complementary markets in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Central Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.
The companies said the partnership is intended to meet growing demand for high-throughput broadband services, mobile communications for the aviation and maritime sectors, and government and enterprise VSAT services. It will also allow the partners to share investment in infrastructure, optimize satellite capacity and maximize the commercial potential of the Es’hail-3/Turksat-Biruni satellite.
The signing ceremony was attended by Their Excellencies ministers and senior officials from both the State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkiye. (QNA)
