Amman, July 12 (Petra) — Ministry of Public Works and Housing
announced Sunday that maintenance work on the Karak-Ghor highway
(Al-Kharaza section) will begin Monday morning, targeting a
3.5-kilometer stretch of the most damaged areas.

The works are part of a broader project to rehabilitate several vital
primary roads in the southern region, the ministry said in a
statement. The comprehensive plan includes the Karak-Qatraneh road,
the Royal Pavement (Al-Raseef Al-Mulouki) road, and the Badia
highway, in addition to constructing the 4-kilometer Kathraba-Ghor
road.

The entire project is scheduled for completion within 300 days at an
estimated cost of approximately JD4 million ($5.6 million). The
technical scope of work involves milling existing asphalt layers,
laying down new asphalt tracks, executing patching works, applying
road markings, installing traffic safety elements, protecting water
structures, and upgrading rainwater drainage systems according to
top-approved standards.

To minimize disruptions, the ministry, in coordination with the
Traffic Department and the Highway Patrol Department, has established
a phased traffic plan. Traffic will be managed through sequential
work stages and temporary detours equipped with necessary safety
elements and warning signs. Maintenance activities will be restricted
to daytime hours, running from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.

The ministry noted that under the same tender, it recently completed
the scheduled maintenance works on the Karak-Qatraneh highway in
accordance with the approved timeline.

Commuters using the affected routes are urged to adhere to all
temporary traffic signs, follow instructions from site personnel and
traffic police, and exercise cautious driving to ensure the safety of
both citizens and field crews.
