Doha, September 17 (QNA) – The State of Qatar participated in the 2026 Annual Forum of the Global Coalition for Social Justice, engaging in a high-level panel titled “From international commitments to implementation: Delivering Social Justice,” held virtually under the chairmanship of HE UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Li Junhua.

HE Minister of Labor Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri represented Qatar at the forum, highlighting the imperative of translating international consensus into tangible national policy.

He noted that Qatar hosted the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha in November 2025, which culminated in the Doha Political Declaration, a framework later endorsed by UN General Assembly Resolution 80/5 focusing on poverty eradication, full employment, and social inclusion.

HE the Minister emphasized that Qatar joined the Global Coalition for Social Justice in November 2025, reinforcing its ongoing partnership with the International Labor Organization (ILO) under the third phase of their joint technical cooperation program (2024–2028).

His Excellency pointed out that amid rapid global shifts, ranging from technological advances and AI to demographic and climate changes, social justice must be an integral component of economic and social policy formulation, rather than a deferred outcome.

He stressed that the collective goal extends beyond job creation and economic growth to securing decent work, ensuring inclusive benefits, and empowering communities to navigate future transformations.

Reaffirming that the Doha Political Declaration marks the start of a shared implementation effort, HE the Minister highlighted the Global Coalition for Social Justice’s role in mobilizing partnerships and aligning policies.

HE Al Marri concluded by reiterating Qatar’s commitment to collaborating with the ILO and international partners to advance inclusive and sustainable social development. (QNA)
