Rain to Pick Up Monday Afternoon, Thunder Possible in South and East

Amman, Oct. 12 (Petra) — Scattered showers and occasional
thunderstorms are forecast across southern and eastern Jordan on
Monday, with some areas expected to receive brief, heavy rainfall
during the afternoon as unsettled weather continues, according to the
Jordan Meteorological Department.

Moderate weather will prevail across most regions, with clouds at
varying altitudes. Rainfall in the south and east could intensify at
times during the afternoon, accompanied by thunder, lightning and
hail.

Showers may extend to limited parts of the east-central regions later
in the afternoon, while northern areas could see light rain during
the evening.

Southeasterly to southwesterly winds will be moderate, becoming
active at times before shifting northwesterly in the evening.

The department warned of possible flash floods in valleys and
low-lying areas in southern and eastern Jordan, as well as reduced
visibility due to dust, particularly across the Badia. It also
cautioned against thunderstorms, hail and slippery roads in areas
receiving rainfall.

Residents were urged to avoid valleys and floodwater channels,
especially in southern and eastern regions.

The department explained that autumn weather instability often
produces uneven rainfall, with isolated areas experiencing heavy
thunderstorms over short periods while nearby locations receive
little or no rain. It urged the public to follow weather updates and
remain alert to the possibility of sudden flooding.

Monday’s temperatures are forecast to reach 29 degrees Celsius in
East Amman and across the plains and 27 C in West Amman, with highs
of 26 C in the northern highlands and 25 C in the Sharah highlands.

Temperatures will reach 30 C in the Badia, 34 C in the northern
Jordan Valley and at the Dead Sea, 35 C in the southern Jordan Valley
and 33 C in Aqaba.

Temperatures will edge lower on Tuesday, bringing generally moderate
autumn conditions across the country, accompanied by clouds at
varying altitudes.

A slight rise is forecast on Wednesday, with a chance of scattered
evening showers and occasional thunder in limited parts of the
northeastern Badia.

Temperatures will dip again on Thursday to slightly below seasonal
averages, bringing pleasant weather to the highlands and moderate
conditions elsewhere, with low clouds and occasionally active
southwesterly winds.
