Madaba, July 12 (Petra) — Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi
on Sunday attended the Bani Hamida tribe’s celebrations in Madaba
governorate marking Independence Day and Army Day.

The event, held at the invitation of Sheikh Mofdi Al-Darabah, was
attended by Kneiaan Al-Balawi, Advisor to His Majesty the King for
Tribal Affairs; Madaba Governor Hassan Al-Jbour; along with local
senators, members of parliament, and community members.

Speakers at the ceremony emphasized that independence represents a
pivotal national milestone in the history of the Jordanian state,
establishing the foundations of sovereignty and development while
reinforcing dignity and national achievements. They renewed their
pride in the Hashemite leadership’s ongoing journey to cement
security, stability, and human development.

Sheikh Mofdi Al-Darabah welcomed Issawi at the start of the ceremony,
noting that the event commemorates the historic independence achieved
under Hashemite leadership and reaffirms the community’s loyalty and
devotion to the leadership.

Former Member of Parliament Nassar Al-Heisah stated that Independence
Day reflects a nation built on determination, will, and achievement.
He added that the occasion honors the sacrifices of previous
generations and serves to renew the commitment to national
modernization, development, and state achievements across various
sectors.

Al-Heisah highlighted that under the leadership of His Majesty the
King, Jordan continues to maintain its firm stances in defending Arab
causes, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue, alongside the
historic Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy
sites in Jerusalem.

Senator Mohammad Al-Azaideh added that while the wider region faces
conflict and challenges, Jordan has achieved security and stability
under its leadership. He called on citizens to embody the core
principles of independence and stand united behind His Majesty King
Abdullah II and the armed and security forces.

Senator Amjad Jmaian noted that the independence celebrations
coincide with several important national milestones, including the
birthdays of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness
Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, as well as the anniversary
of the Great Arab Revolt. He remarked that Jordan’s experience,
backed by institutional cohesion, remains a model of resilience and
national belonging.

Banan Al-Qtaish, speaking on behalf of the women’s sector, paid
tribute to the historical milestones marking the 80th anniversary of
Jordan’s independence. She praised the active and equal partnership
of Jordanian women in the nation’s ongoing development.

The event concluded with a poetry recital by poet Said Yaqoub,
alongside cultural performances presented by local schools. Issawi
presented honorary shields to several community figures from Madaba,
while the Governor of Madaba presented an honorary shield to the
Royal Court Chief.
