Sharjah, Jan. 7 (Petra) – Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, honored the winners of the Al Qawafi Award 2024 for Poetry Pon Tuesday, including Jordanian poet Jumana Tarawneh.
During a ceremony held at the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Cultural Center (Dara) in Sharjah, Tarawneh recited a poem alongside a group of poets participating in the 21st edition of the Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival, which commenced on Monday evening.
In his address, Sheikh Sultan praised the poets attending the festival, including the winners of the prize, as well as all those committed to writing poetry, particularly among the younger generations and lovers of the Arabic language and its beauty.
Sheikh Sultan also reflected on the experience of establishing “Houses of Poetry,” which were created under his direction and supervision in various Arab cities to promote Arabic poetry and culture.
