Russian scientists develop new radiopharmaceutical for liver cancer treatment

Mosco, Sept. 10 (Petra) — Russian scientists at the National Medical
Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health have developed
a new drug to treat liver cancer and metastatic lesions, Yuri Zubov,
head of the Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property
(Rospatent), announced on Thursday.

Speaking at a press conference, Zubov explained that the
pharmaceutical consists of serum albumin microspheres that become
trapped within the tumor’s blood supply, destroying liver cancer
cells through targeted radiation delivery.
